The neck can get twisted on one side and is known as "torticollis" (wry neck)

A stiff neck is a nasty thing to wake up to in the morning. In the worst-case scenario, it may be torticollis/an acute wry neck (acute torticollis).

“Torticollis acuta” [Acute torticollis] refers to a condition in which the neck is locked in a particular position on one side. The acute condition may occur unexpectedly without warning. This ailment is also known as “lumbago” of the neck.

Ailments can form when the cervical vertebrae don’t move properly. This can cause the surrounding muscles to cramp and twist the neck to one side. Even if the neck isn’t completely locked, it is best to take care of it as soon as possible. There is still a stubborn misconception that a stiff neck should not be treated until it has been relieved of tension. In doing this, the problem may become chronic. A chiropractor can help a stiff and sore neck quickly and safely.

A similar problem may also occur in the lower back. This reaction is known as “lower back pain” or “lumbago” [“noidannuoli” in Finnish]. You can also be effectively treated for acute lower back pain right from the onset of the discomfort. This speeds up the healing process and often helps relieve pain and stiffness.

A chiropractor helps when lumbago takes away the joy in your life.
