Chiropractic care

A chiropractor is a health and well-being advocate.

How can a chiropractor help you?
The most common reasons people resort to using a chiropractor includes backaches such as lower back pain, neck pain and shoulder pain which is often associated with headaches, dizziness, migraines, pressure/pain in the upper back and between the shoulder blades, various problems with joint s such as shoulder pain, hip pain, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome and/or numbness in the arms or legs.

GENERAL SYPTOMS

A chiropractor knows your body.
When the body shows symptoms, there is always a reason for it. Everyone has headaches or back pain sometimes. However, if the pain often occurs or is caused by a sudden event or if the pain is prolonged, you should consider other pain relief options rather than using pain killers. Often there is some mechanical ailments that can occur for many reasons, such as sitting for too long or tearing during sports activities. A chiropractor can often help quite quickly in these and similar situations.

Chiropractic care is a safe form of health care that is suitable for everyone and it not only seeks to treat various symptoms such as pain but to restore the body’s natural balance.

Chiropractic care improves the functioning of the nervous system by opening up the spinal motion of the spine caused by the misalignment of the spine. When the nervous system works properly, the body starts a natural healing process towards better health.

What is health?

Our body has the innate tendency to strive for balance. When our body is in balance, we feel good inside. Good health as a whole can be defined as the right decisions that improve well-being, and its building materials work primarily alongside taking proper care of the body, nutrition and exercise.

The spine is the support mechanism and foundation of our body, and it has the most important job of protecting our lifeline, our nervous system. The nervous system is the pathway through which the brain constantly uses to control everything that happens in our body, from metabolism, immunity, blood circulation, digestion and hormonal activity to every thought and movement. Therefore, nervous system disorders directly affect our body’s functional capacity and its ability to respond to rapidly changing conditions.

When the nervous system functions properly, the body is able to achieve and stay in balance. A body that is in balance works well when it is healthy. However, if the nervous system malfunctions and is not in balance properly, one’s health will ultimately remain “locked up” in our body. The “locked up” areas can be opened with the help of chiropractic care, and then the body can start getting healthier.

Our bodies are under constant pressure every day which manifests in the form of stress on our nervous system. Our bodies start showing symptoms when we accumulate enough strain on the body. Symptoms may include, various aches and pains, such as headaches, neck and back pain, achy joints, along with others.

However, pain is just one of the ways our bodies show symptoms. Other signs of physical malfunctions may include other examples, such as, sharp back pain, stiffness in the neck and back, dizziness, heavy breathing, sleeping difficulties, numbness and stiffness in one’s limbs, lower energy levels, frequent colds and flu as well as various other internal problems such as heartburn or reflux, allergies, abdominal and intestinal problem, slow metabolism, and the like.

With chiropractic care, the aim is to repair the underlying cause which causes the symptoms and not just make the symptoms disappear. The effects of the treatment are unique, and often when the pain has gone, other ailments may be relieved or disappear entirely. The aim is also to keep your body in shape by preventing ailments from returning as well as enabling your body to achieve maximum physical performance here and now as well as in the future.

Physical malfunctioning of the nervous system may be caused by the following:

Physical stress

  • Pregnancy
  • Incorrectly fitted footwear
  • Sleeping on a bad mattress
  • Accidents
  • Sports injuries
  • Poor workplace ergonomics
  • Even lying on the couch with poor posture

Emotional stress

  • Relationship crises
  • Anxiety and worry
  • Work-related stress

Chemical stress

  • Alcohol
  • Smoking
  • Food additives
  • Medicines
Spinal health and maintaining good posture require regular care. Chiropractic treatment lays the necessary groundwork for both. A chiropractic treatment plan is tailored to the client’s initial situation. Chiropractic treatment is for everyone, regardless of age or position in life. For example, you may be an active athlete who wants to get the best performance out of your body or seek natural back pain relief during pregnancy or even just generally be interested in your well-being. The aim is to reduce the deterioration of the spine and consequent impaired functioning of the nervous system and restore enjoyment of life within the body.

Chiropractic treatment programme

Our treatment programme has three stages:

1. Initial intensive care
The first step is to improve the individual’s acute symptoms occurring in the spine and nervous system as quickly as possible. In the initial intensive care stage, the body is retrained to achieve lasting results. This stage usually requires a few regular short-term treatment sessions. Pain and symptoms are alleviated in the first stage. Flexibility is often found to return, and patients notice a boost in their energy levels and can breathe easier in this stage.

2. Reconstructive care
Long-term reconstructive care aims to correct problems in the long run. If the issues have been going on for a long time, it will take longer for joints, ligaments, muscles and other body tissues to heal. Your body and organ functions are restored gradually over time. The number of sessions is decreased in a controlled manner at the reconstructive care stage. Once the treatment programme has got to this stage, individuals may experience better coordination, more strength, increased energy levels and improved their mental clarity.

3. Well-being maintenance (for adults)/Supporting development (for children)
Regular preventative treatment helps keep the spine and nervous system in good working condition. A flexible spine helps you manage life’s stressful events better, maintain high performance, as well as feeling more energetic and stronger. The patient’s own goals are reviewed at the beginning of the treatment. Everyone can choose whether chiropractic care is used temporarily to manage symptoms like pain or if the goal is true overall health where the body is well maintained with follow-up appointments according to a treatment plan. The time between follow-up appointments at the clinic is different for everyone and the time between visits can even be months.
